Shawn and Jocelyn Jenkins discovered SCC online as they were searching for a home in the area in 2020. They moved to Steamboat full time in 2021 and their ten-year-old daughter was baptized in the Yampa River by SCC Children’s Ministry leader Hadley with Shawn assisting soon after they arrived. They have five children and love skiing, hiking, horse-back riding, and just being with their big family. Shawn accepted Christ when he was thirteen years old in a small one room church plant of Daytona Beach First Baptist Church. He graduated from Geneva College, a faith based college with a business degree and a professional pilot certification.Rather than go straight into business or aviation, Shawn worked for a mission organization for five years where he handled finances, planned many short-term mission trips, traveled to many countries such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, Haiti, and more on mission team trips. He eventually received his MBA from Charleston Southern University, a faith-based university and turned his cap-stone project into an Internet software company in 2000. He served as co-founder and CEO of the company from startup through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and over $250m in annual revenue. The success of the company enabled Shawn and Jocelyn to make the lead financial donation for the building of a new children’s and women’s hospital in Charleston, SC called the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.Shawn has served in many capacities of several churches including finance committee for both church and Christian school, strategic planning committee, building committees, and fundraising committees.
